In October 2008, the McClendon Center received the "Outstanding Support to the District of Columbia Consumer Movement" Award from the Consumer Leadership Forum (CLF).  The Consumer Leadership Forum is a grassroots consumer organization that advocates for quality services for consumers who reside in the District.  Ms. Dorothy Adams is the CLF's Executive Director.  She presented this award to the McClendon Center's Executive Director, Dick Davis, at the CLF's annual awards ceremony in October.

The DC Metro Washington Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers named the McClendon Center its "Social Work Agency of the Year" in March 2008.  The Center received a plaque from the DC Chapter of NASW and it is displayed at the Center's Core Services Agency on North Capitol Street.
