Here’s what Michael shared with us:
What’s one thing you love about working at the McClendon Center?
I love seeing our clients not only making progress in their lives, but reaching their goals. I also enjoy working with my coworkers!
Tell us about a work accomplishment that you’re really proud of.
A work accomplishment that I am really proud of is leading McClendon Center through our Joint Commission survey process in 2017 and 2021. It can be an intense process going through the survey, and stressful at times, but we have a good team and everyone did their part, which made the process easier. I am extremely proud of our accreditation.
What does a typical day at the Center look like for you?
After checking email in the morning, I start each day sending out the hospital report for the agency. Which is followed by reviewing incident reports, record reviews, phone calls, troubleshooting with team members, responding to emails, and conversations with our clients to see how they are doing and if we are meeting their needs. There is no typical day as things are constantly happening and changing.
When you’re not working, what brings you joy?
Oddly, one of the most stressful topics in our country right now brings me joy when I’m not working. I am a political junkie. I enjoy studying political history on my down time and I actively watch political commentary across all networks.
What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
I used to write poetry and had a poem published in Essence Magazine in 2007.
